So I’m pretty sure I have tonsillitis :( but the good news is ice cream is great for helping my throat. I brought a pint in and mindlessly lapped it up watching a show on my laptop, before I knew it the pint was gone but it tasted so yummy I had to have another. I waddled out of the tub to my freezer and grabbed another pint since my loving feeder @bigwhiteguy12-blog bought me a bunch of my favorites yesterday. He takes such good care of this swollen belly. Anywaayyy I may or may not have taken a few trips to the freezer because now I’m floating in this tub like a beached whale 🐋

Wish someone were here to get them for me so I didn’t have to get out of the tub anymore

I need help with my homework what's the proper definition of a vestigial organ?

A vestigial organ is a structure in the body that has lost its original function over the course of evolution, due to changes in an organism's behaviour or environment that causes a decrease in the use of the structure. Vestigial organs serve little to no purpose, and are either degenerate (have reverted to a simpler form), rudimentary (underdeveloped), or atrophied (have lost effectiveness due to underuse). They often come to be because a feature that is not needed anymore has no disadvantage on the body, and removing it would have no major advantage (think about the appendix in humans). However, some vestigial organs, although they are leftover from ancestral structures, still have a use in the body (think of the coccyx (tailbone) in humans, which no longer is connected to a tail, but is still valuable as an anchor for certain pelvic muscles). Your homework probably wants you to provide examples, so:

Examples of human vestigial organs: Appendix. Coccyx. Wisdom teeth. Tonsils. Sinuses.

Examples of animal vestigial organs: The wings of flightless birds such as kiwis and emus. The eyes of blind fish and salamanders. Pelvic bones in whales which evolved from land mammals.

I am actually doing a little better. I was doing great this afternoon. But this morning I was horrible. The only thing that made me push through was that I was looking forward to this field trip. I needed to be there. This was important to me. But dang. It was hard.

I was not in a great head space and wasn't thinking and didn't dress appropriately for the day. I was freezing. I didn't wear my extra sweatshirt like I planned. I didn't wear leggings or high socks. I didn't even remember gloves. I made a lot of outfit mistakes.

When I got to camp I was almost in tears when I was out in the cold setting up low ropes. My fingers burned. I had stopped at the art building first to get my hiking books but Jesus were my legs cold and my hands and my ears. I was miserable.

I could barely get the ladder to open. I just had to keep stopping and just standing there. Feeling stupid. Feeling freezing. But I got it done.

Once I was back in the office and warm I wasn't so upset. Just a little upset. I had my breakfast but I didn't like it. James used American cheese instead of cheddar and it tasted bad and I was just. Bummed. Bummed about how I felt and everything. I texted James and decided they should reach out to the doctors office.

I was working on my knitting and watching a video when the doctors called me. They were concerned about my cough and I told her about the tonsillitis and she was like should we call a surgeon? And I'm like I don't think I have tonsillitis anymore, I think this is secondary. And they said they could see me tomorrow morning. So that is the plan. 9am tomorrow.

The group would start showing up at 1015. And they were such a nice group. I had the best time. I really needed this win.

This was a homeschool group and they were so good. Big age gaps but they were all super kind to each other and just really excited to be together. They are very covid conscious and had us wear masks. And I honestly think it helped me. The warm air. Because for the entire 4 hours we were together I only coughed once. And it was when I was sitting down during whale watcher. Wild. It was the best I have felt in forever. I felt stronger. The air was good. The sun was good. I was still a little cold but I was much better.

We started a little late waiting for the last family. While we waited I talked about puhtok's history. And asked the kids questions and it was fun.

Sarah and me had discussed that I would lead the morning and she would lead the afternoon in case I started falling apart again.

We started with ground elements. We did the whale watcher and the full group including adults were able to balance for about a minute. The kids alone were able to get 20 seconds. But it was fun. They were doing pretty good. Homeschoolers sometimes struggle with sharing and taking turns but they seemed really well socialized and only struggled a little with waiting. But in general they were great.

We went to low ropes next and it was fun being spotters. And everyone did pretty good even if we could not successfully finish the first course. Everyone seemed to have fun, even when they fell over.

We went in a nature walk next. We started at the horse field. Petting Stormy and Obie. They loved seeing them and talking about them and while I don't know a ton about the horses I was able to tell them stories of what I did know and it was great.

We continued our walk towards the switchback trails, down the the Glen. I had some excellent chats with some of the parents. And I was in a great mood.

When we got down to the bottom of the hill we saw that the pond has approximately a million frog eggs!! It was so cool to see. I know they won't all hatch but I am excited to see frogs again. It's the best.

We would go have lunch next. We walked up the hill, were were all a bit winded. Some families had lunch in their cars. Some came with us to go to trading post. Where we had to move some picnic tables. Which are so heavy but we got it done.

Me and Sarah went back to the office for our lunch. We had a nice break. I had a hot dog. And watched tiktoks and was feeling good. Even if I started coughing again when I sat down. I seen to do the best when I'm standing. Which is frustrating but at least it's something.

The afternoon Sarah took the lead. We played steak the bacon and had a tictactoe relay race. We had some tears when people "didn't get a turn" even though we kept explaining that there were no turns we are a team? And when the older kids tried to make the little kids win by going easy on them or just letting them get ahead, some were still failing and getting upset and throwing themselves at the ground. In tears. Very dramatic. The parents didn't react so I also didn't react and the kids would get over it and move on.

We finished with animals. Samson is awake from brominating. Rosie just finished shedding. Nelly was wet. It was fun. And it gave me some good talking points for bringing Samson to creative alliance for my turtle workshop on Saturday.

Which is going forward and I'm really nervous about it. Literally only because I have to be responsible for Samson. But it will be fine. Even if it makes me slightly uncomfortable.

Once the group was done we walked them back to the cars and said goodbye. Thanked them. I suggested the BMI for more homeschool programs. And me and Sarah were off to clean.

I had left some materials by the pioneer cabins when we realized we forgot the nature key and I had to run back to the office to get it. And when we were over there Joe asked us to help mop. So that is what we did. We mopped the lodge and cleaned the bathrooms.

Once that was done I went to the pioneer cabins to sweep. And then back to the office to chill and wait for the end of the day.

After some emails and having a yogurt I decided to go home. I meant to stop and put low ropes away and just absolutely forgot to do that. Sarah would remind me later. Oops. It's fine. A fixable issue tomorrow.

I would get home around 430. And I was freezing and very tired. I almost immediately got cozy on the couch with sweetp. And waited for James to get home.

When they did they joined us on the couch. And we watched tiktoks for a while. But eventually there were things to do.

James went to clean the bathroom. I did some vacuuming of the frog tank and did a lot of snail catching today. I finally saw Omelet eat. But man are these snails making me annoyed. The battle continues.

James made me spaghetti for dinner. And we sat at the island and talked about our days. So much drama at the museum. But James did get a little raise which is exciting. Just a little one but still. Progress!

I would spend a lot of this evening organizing in the studio and I feel like it's mostly done. I'm really excited about this. And I started thinking about how the little room is going to be organized. And me and James talked through our house projects. The living room is the next big one. I also want to paint the stairwell but that will be largely my own project. But the living room is going to be a Jesse and James effort. I am looking forward to that.

I would take a shower and get in bed and immediately started coughing again when I as vertical. Which makes me really upset. But I am trying my best to be okay. I'm hoping that the doctor will help me tomorrow. Give me something to fix it.

I am looking forward to sleep. And tomorrow will be good. I have my doctor's appointment and then I'll head to work. I'll get Samson safely to my house. And then James is working at theater project so I'm going to go to that show and I'm really looking forward to that. Love going to see a show.

Sometimes I think about the Bonehemoth. Why are we stabbing our pickaxes through this poor thing's insides? Can it feel that??? God I hope not. Does everyone just accept the fact there's a giant whale that accidentally eats everything in its path, including humans???? That Robinson has been living inside it for ten years??? The fact that an animal is now a whole dig site and people can just.... venture through its guts and dig up fossils like there's nothing abnormal about it?? Are there more bonehemoths out there??? Are there other giant creatures on that planet like the bonehemoth that you could find fossils inside of??? Hello??????

We're not even gonna get into the fact that it's tonsil is sentient.

Apart from the art design, graphical, and musical upgrades frontier gave us, I think, despite the shortcomings of the game, the elements of the story could be carried over to a hypothetical (and hopeful) 4th installment. Fossil Fighters has always had elements going deeper into Sci-Fi and fantasy. Evolution, aliens, cosmic planet eaters threatening existance bringing upon existential thoughts in the first game. Mystical origins for vivosaurs, necromancy, posession, the undead, tyrants, evolution again (in wonderous and miraculous fossils), and living tonsils in a whale in Champions. Going into the ethics of genetic modifications, experimentation with revival, cloning, artificial life, these all would have fit so well in Fossil Fighters, not to mention how it could be implemented with gameplay. What if Nibbles worked in a skill tree of evolutions based on battles or what fossils you could integrate into them, having different genus variants with different skills and support styles?

If we ever get a Fossil Fighters in the future (hopefully not a mobile game, but a real main line entry), what kinds of elements or themes would you guys want it to tackle??

s22: episode 10, bike parade. i didnt super love this season either, so its kinda a case of picking the one i wasnt bored with. plus in a way it kinda felt like one of the original episodes, it was like a lil blast from the past !

s23: episode 2, band in china ^_^ we got stans band, crimson dawn !! it was great learning more abt how stan felt abt having to move to a farm, plus butters ripping it on a guitar was so funny. and then randy did stuff too idk

s24: this season has just been the 2 specials so far, but i liked the vaccination special, episode 2 the best ^_^ bc 1, the brovorce arc started, n im rly excited to see what happens with that. and also the way it ended left me hopeful that maybe the shows gonna go back to the way it used to be a little bit <3 i also liked how we saw stan gettin really mentally ill with freaking out over the pandemic, but that mightve been in the first episode instead...

Yeah, though I don't think it's something I'd go out of my way to do. If I had the opportunity though, I'd surely go. I would love to take photos there, and it's this odd desire of mine to visit Aokigahara Forest and just walk along the "safe" paths and just... feel it. I don't want to find any bodies because I think that would shatter me, I just want to allow myself to like, drown in empathy for all those that left their lives in those trees. I feel like I'd cry a LOT, because I'd prefer to do it alone and just talk to whoever may be able to hear from wherever they are now, and just let them know they're not forgotten or abandoned and that they were never alone. This is honestly getting me really emotional so I'm moving onto the next question. But in summary, I feel like it could honestly be a life-changing experience. What is your favorite Japanese name? Chapter 11: Pressing On

Mary Margaret watched the paramedic check his vitals, as the ambulance sped toward the hospital. She recognized him as one of their Knights and recalled that his name was

Gareth, but she didn't know who he was here. He gave her a reassuring nod though.

"His vitals are strong and though he's lost a bit of blood, he'll be fine. I'm sure Dr. Whale will have no problem stitching him up," Gareth offered.

"Great...Whale," David muttered and she squeezed his hand.

"You know there is no competition there," she whispered to him.

"I know…" he said, as they shared a long gaze. They arrived at the hospital and wheeled David in, with Mary Margaret running beside his gurney.

"What do we have?" Whale asked and then saw that it was David and Mary Margaret.

"Stab wound…" the paramedic said.

"Okay...let's get him to a room. You'll need to wait out here," Whale told her.

"I am going in with him...I don't care what you say!" Mary Margaret protested.

"It's usually family only," he replied.

"She is my family," David said, as he saw their fingers entwined.

"And he's mine," she added, though she really wanted to scream at the man she had made a mistake with that David was really her husband. She wanted to scream that to the whole town, but knew now was not the time for that.

"Fine...whatever," Whale said irritably, as David was wheeled into one of the emergency rooms.

"You do know that the Mayor is still your emergency contact in your file, right?" Whale asked.

"That needs to change. I don't want Regina anywhere near him," Mary Margaret snapped and then stopped to try to quell the swirling emotions inside her.

"Oh...okay, we can change that. I'll have the nurse update it to you," Whale said, taken aback by her fierceness and she supposed that made sense. The Mary Margaret under the curse was so soft spoken and a proverbial doormat to everyone. She was still angry with herself that she had ever let Whale near her when she was vulnerable, let alone touch her. David must have sensed that and squeezed her hand.

"It's okay...I'm okay," he promised, as he kissed her cheek. Whale looked away and put David's chart down.

"Well, I'm the doctor and it's up to me to determine how okay you are or not," he said, as he began examining the wound.

After Emma finished the preliminary report and locked Keith up, Ruby's words proved effective, as she found herself at the hospital.

"Hey...you came," Ruby said.

"Uh yeah...like I said, I need his statement," Emma deflected.

"He saved your life," Ruby reminded again.

"Really?" Henry asked, as he arrived with Neal and Gold. Emma sighed in irritation.

"What is he doing here?" she asked him.

"He wanted to go to the diner with his...with David and Mary Margaret. He wanted to see Mary Margaret specifically since the school fired her today," Neal started to explain.

"Yeah...I heard," Emma replied.

"My Mom is behind it...I know she is," Henry replied, causing Emma to sigh deeply again.

"Anyway, I called Mary Margaret to see if they could meet us and that's when we found out David had been stabbed," Neal replied.

"Is he okay?" Henry asked.

"I think he's going to be fine, sweetie. He saved Emma from getting stabbed," Ruby replied.

"I had it under control...he didn't save me. If anything, he got in the way," Emma argued. Neal smirked.

"I'm sure," he said, as they continued to wait to hear about David's condition.

Sidney typed away on the old computer in the newsroom when his phone rang.

"Hello?" he asked.

"What the hell went on at the Rabbit Hole tonight?" Regina demanded to know.

"Uh...well, it appears that the Sheriff arrived to deal with a drunken disorderly that went bad. Except instead of taking the knife wound herself, I interviewed an eyewitness that said Mr. Nolan took the knife for her," Sidney reported.

"You better spin that story in a negative light. The last thing I need is David Nolan being hailed for some heroics!" Regina said irritably.

"Well...people are already saying that's exactly what he is. I was able to cover up that he was homeless for a while, but I'm not sure how we bury this," Sidney replied.

"Then you need to figure it out!" Regina snapped.

"He was there with Miss Blanchard. I can remind everyone of their scandalous affair and their amorous antics in the park earlier today," he said.

"Whatever...just spin it to make them look bad," Regina said, as she hung up. Sidney sighed and decided to run to the diner for more coffee, before he finished and put the paper to bed. He walked out and didn't see August waiting outside. He slipped in and sat down at the computer. He slipped a flash drive into the external USB. The computer was so old that it didn't even have an USB slot, but fortunately Sidney happened to have a solution to that when needed.

August slipped his story into the pages of tomorrow's paper layout, deleting some column about the mine collapse, which was just a story that was in the paper weekly lately. No one seemed to notice that Sidney cycled the same stories over and over again. But August did notice and he had also noticed the changes lately. He now knew that Snow White and the Prince were awake and that meant that Emma just needed a little more pushing toward the truth. He was also shocked to find out that Neal was in town as well and he was hoping to keep a low profile and avoid him. It was good though. It meant that things had accelerated and he was hoping his article would accelerate them even more.

He felt slightly bad about running the story in respect to Kathryn, but taking away Regina's narrative that David and Mary Margaret were somehow a pair of adulterous, terrible people might go a long way to waking people up. He was exposing in the article that David's marriage license to Kathryn was phony and Regina drew it up when he woke up in an attempt to keep him and Mary Margaret apart. Essentially, his article was one hundred percent true, except the part where Kathryn was in on it and went along with it. But once the curse broke, any ill feelings anyone had toward the blonde would disappear. Truth was what they needed now. It was what he needed. Truthfully, he wasn't doing this to help David and Mary Margaret. He was selfishly doing this to save himself. The curse breaking was his only chance or he would soon have more than just a wooden leg.

Mary Margaret waited impatiently, as Whale stitched up David's wound.

"You're lucky...the knife missed all your organs and any deeper, you probably would have needed surgery. But it appears there is no internal bleeding," Whale replied.

"You're sure?" she asked and he looked at her.

"I'm sure...but just the same, he needs to rest once he's home for a few days. For now, I'd like to keep him overnight," Whale replied.

"I'm staying with him," she insisted. He nodded, as he did another test.

"What is that?" she asked.

"It checks his hemoglobin or blood level, which is slightly low. Since we're keeping him overnight, I'd like to give him a pint of blood," Whale replied, as he wrote something on his chart.

"I'll be back soon and we'll assign him a room," he said, as he exited. David smiled up at her once the doctor left and she leaned down to kiss him on the lips.

"I'm fine…" he assured once their lips parted.

"I know…" she said.

"I'm just sorry," he replied.

"For what?" she asked.

"Well...this isn't exactly how our Valentine's Day was supposed to end," he replied. But she only smiled.

"Well...for us, I'd say this is pretty normal and you saved our baby's life. Again," she said. He chuckled.

"We always did manage to find our fair share of trouble," he agreed and she sat down beside his bed and rested her head against his shoulder.

Whale stepped out of the room and found people waiting in the lobby area.

"Is my...Mr. Nolan okay?" Henry asked the doctor, who managed a smile for him.

"David is going to be fine. I stitched him up and I'm going to keep him overnight, just to be safe," Whale replied.

"Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to get a transfusion going for David. He's a little low from the blood loss he suffered," the doctor added.

"Maybe I can give him blood!" Henry chimed in. Whale chuckled.

"That's very generous of you, Henry, but I have to give David his type of blood and it's highly unlikely that you have the same type," Whale replied.

"I'm B negative. What type is David?" Henry asked curiously.

"How do you know what blood type you are?" Neal asked.

"Tonsils...two years ago. I didn't have to get blood, but I got a lot of ice cream and the nurses told me what type I am," he replied.

"Well...that's a coincidence. David is also B negative, but I'm afraid we can't take a pint from you, Henry," Whale said, as he started to walk away.

"Wait…" Emma called, as he turned.

"I'm also B negative...if you're short," she said. He looked at her and then nodded.

"Wait at the desk and I'll send a nurse for you," he said, as he walked away.

"Wow...same blood type," Neal mentioned.

"It doesn't mean anything," Emma protested.

"Of course not. I mean, you, the kid, and David all being the same blood type couldn't be anything except a coincidence," Neal mused.

"In my experience...there are no coincidences," Gold said.

"Whatever...you better get him home, before Regina has an aneurysm," Emma mentioned.

"Dad is filing for custody," Henry chimed in, causing her eyes to widen.

"What?" Emma asked.

"Uh...it wasn't my idea, but it's what he wants and I guess I have a lawyer already," Neal replied.

"Are you insane? Regina is going to go nuclear!" Emma hissed to him, as she pulled him aside.

"I know...but if I'm being honest, I want this too. I would have never given him up in the first place if I'd known about him!" Neal hissed back.

"I was in jail! What was I supposed to do!? I couldn't raise him!" she said.

"I know and I'm not blaming you. I got scared and should have never listened to August," he replied.

"I made a lot of mistakes, but now I'm going to make up for them as best I can and clearly our son is not happy with his adopted mother, who happens to be the freaking Evil Queen," he said. She scoffed.

"Not this again…" Emma complained.

"Like it or not, Em...it's all true and my Dad mentioned earlier that our chances in court would be better if we were on a united front," he mentioned.

"Wait...you mean your father wants me in on this too?" she asked. He nodded.

"Even if we're not together...we are his biological parents and you may have given him up, but I didn't. You were under duress and I didn't know he existed. Biological parents have won cases with less," he replied.

"Not against people like Regina. She controls this town. The district attorney is in her pocket, so there's no reason to believe the judge won't be either," she reasoned. He shrugged.

"Maybe not...but people are more afraid of my father than they are of her, trust me…" he countered and she found that she couldn't argue with that.

"Fine...I'm in," she agreed.

"Really?" he asked. She nodded, with a shrug.

"Getting him away from Regina is the only reason I stayed in this crazy town. I just didn't think I had a ghost of a chance," she replied. He smiled.

"Well...we do. A really good chance," he said.

"She will wage all out war on us...all of us," Emma warned.

"Guess we'll have to bring it then," Neal said, as Whale motioned to her.

"Go...go give your father some blood," Neal said.

"Don't call him that...he's not my father," Emma replied.

"Yeah...and denial is a river in Egypt," Neal said.

"Shut up," Emma replied, as she walked away. Neal smirked. She was going to deny the reality until she was blue in the face, but he knew her better than anyone. The walls around her were slowly beginning to crack.
